Position Summary

The Manager, Marketing and Communications plays a vital role on the Fund Development Team, whose primary focus will be to help the team achieve its fundraising goals through effective marketing and communications strategies. This person is responsible for project management leading to content creation and coordination of a wide variety of communications and assets for Project Open Hand, including but not limited to newsletters, publications (print and electronic), development collateral (appeals/events), client story bank, website, and client/staff/volunteer photos and multimedia campaigns. The Manager, Marketing and Communications oversees staff, consultants, interns and volunteers and financial resources to develop content for all relevant social media channels and monitors and reports on digital marketing analytics that support Project Open Hand’s strategic goals.

Qualifications Required

  • Three to four years’ experience in graphic design, marketing, or related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally with a diverse range of external and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, managing multiple projects, and meeting deadlines.

Registered Dietician

Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:  

 

Working out of our Oakland office, the Registered Dietitian (RD) works in the Nutrition Services Department to provide nutritional assessment, counseling and education to Project Open Hand clients living with critical and chronic illnesses. The Nutrition Services Department is an integral part of Statewide MediCal Medically Tailored Meal Pilot Program that includes the application of Medical Nutrition Therapy via in person, home and telephonic visits to some of the most vulnerable in our communities. The RD develops educational materials and curricula, participates in research projects, assesses the needs of the client community, and adapts programming and medically tailored meals as needed to meet the unique challenges faced by Project Open Hand clients.  

 

This position is ideal for a compassionate, professional dietitian who would like to help continually improve programs that help sustain our clients as they battle serious illnesses, food insecurity, isolation, or the health challenges of aging. This position requires a level of comfort in the community nutrition environment with emphasis on education. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assists in the development, review, and approval of nutrition guidelines based on agency strategic goals and program contract specifications 

  • Participates in intake of new clients, conducting nutritional assessment, nutritional screens and individualized nutrition counseling for clients in office or by phone for Wellness Programs 

  • Conducts home visits for nutritional assessment and education for participants in Alameda County 

  • Develops and conducts nutrition education and cooking classes and/or support groups for client groups including HIV, Breast Cancer and Diabetes  

  • Provides staff training and education on nutrition, food safety and sanitation as needed 

  • Monitors food quality and sanitation practices of on-site food distribution 

  • Maintains all necessary documentation for grant, research and contract reporting as needed 

  • Participates as a preceptor for dietetic interns  

  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Kitchen Logistics Supervisor serves an integral role on the Project Open Hand Kitchen Operations team by tracking and controlling inventory of frozen and bagged client meals for Kitchen, Grocery Center and Distribution departments. This requires a highly motivated and organized individual, promoting a positive volunteer experience and ensuring that all packaged meals are organized for delivery to clients by the Distribution Team. This position is ideal for an ambitious, meticulously organized, experienced team supervisor with excellent communication skills looking to manage the operational aspects of large-scale meal production in a professional and mission-driven environment. POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the direction of our Director, Operations, the Project Open Hand (POH) Grocery Center Operations (GCO) Supervisor is the essential controller of our bustling grocery program. This position serves as the programmatic liaison between Operations, Client Services and Volunteer Services to coordinate all activities in the Grocery Center (San Francisco and Oakland) to provide the absolute best nutrition and engagement in our community. We rely on our GCO Supervisor to effectively lead and manage overall policy and procedures for our Grocery Centers as well as lead team members to execute best practices and maximize program efficacy. 

The GCO Supervisor is responsible for all Grocery Center functions, including but not limited to food purchasing, receiving, preparation and maintenance of quality standards, safety, sanitation and cleanliness. The GCO Supervisor is responsible for training employees regarding purchasing, receiving, product preparation and maintenance of quality standards, safety, sanitation and cleanliness.

      • Responsible for receiving, routing & storing all delivered products for the Grocery Services, Programs and Building Services Departments, ensuring quality service as well as safe food handling and storage

      • Rotation of new product in storage areas using first-in-first-out (FIFO) method

      Position Summary

      The Wellness Program (WP) Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include a blend of administrative and direct service duties to support the Wellness Program and Project Open Hand’s mission. The WP Coordinator will supervise the day to day duties of the Wellness Program staff, process eligibility for services, manage program contracts, offer case management, and support the Manager, Wellness Program (MWP) as needed to ensure contractual and organizational goals are being met.

      Qualifications Required

      • Proficient in MS Office, using databases, and internet research

        • Provide oversight to assigned contracts, including but not limited to: maintaining knowledge on contract goals, staying updated on contract changes, tracking progress toward meeting contract deliverables, helping troubleshoot barriers in meeting contract goals, providing MWP with data for invoices, monitoring visits, and delegating tasks to staff and volunteers as appropriate
        • Utilize a client centered, harm reduction model to provide case management to clients that includes but is not limited to: maintaining client caseload as assigned, conducting intake interviews for new and returning clients, assessing and verifying program eligibility, enrollment and assessment of client needs, tracking client adherence, supporting with adherence to POH services, facilitating and follow up on referrals
        • Ensure proper staffing coverage for assigned contract and department needs
        • Assist MWP in representing the Wellness Program department externally and internally at community or partner meetings

      •    Responsible for verifying the accuracy of each volunteer’s timesheet. Responds to requests by Volunteer Services for other necessary documents

      •    Responsible for maintaining a system that ensures each month that 90% of participants receiving meals are having their Senior Gold Card scanned

      •    Manages consumable supply inventory and food service equipment

      •    Responsible for participant records, daily meal statistics & donations at the site

      •    Ensures that the site’s meal service atmosphere is supportive, safe, sanitary, attractive, and as pleasing as possible

      •    Attends Staff Meetings and Training Sessions as necessary

      •    Interviews new participants and informs them of site, meal service and donation procedures

      •    Enters participant data into CA Get Care database

      •    Maintains a close working relationship with the Host Agency
