• Experience assisting older people, people with mental health issues and substance abuse issues
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification
• Certified ServSafe Food Protection Manager (highly desired)
• Bilingual Cantonese and/or Spanish
• Supervisory experience
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Administers Community Nutrition Program in accordance with Office of Aging (OOA) Standards and Manual of Operations
• Performs intakes on new participants and provides them with overview of building and meal program policies and procedures, including those concerning the donation process, composting/recycling and expectations from all meal program participants
• Assesses Site’s food service needs and monitors changing trends
• Submits monthly meal order for site and makes daily or periodic meal adjustments if necessary to ensure site’s wastage does not exceed 2%
• Works independently and collaborates with Project Open Hand Volunteer Services Department to screen, recruit, train, and supervise volunteers in all phases of food service programs
• Records volunteer hours
• If applicable to site, trains volunteers in accordance to each individual’s Training Assignment Description, which should cover general operation of the Community Nutrition Program its policies, portion control & food safety
• Responsible for verifying the accuracy of each volunteer’s timesheet. Responds to requests by Volunteer Services for other necessary documents
• Responsible for maintaining a system that ensures each month that 90% of participants receiving meals are having their Senior Gold Card scanned
• Manages consumable supply inventory and food service equipment
• Responsible for participant records, daily meal statistics & donations at the site
• Ensures that the site’s meal service atmosphere is supportive, safe, sanitary, attractive, and as pleasing as possible
• Attends Staff Meetings and Training Sessions as necessary
• Interviews new participants and informs them of site, meal service and donation procedures
• Enters participant data into CA Get Care database
• Maintains a close working relationship with the Host Agency
• Investigates and mediates disputes between Community Nutrition Program participants and assesses and handles all emergencies and crisis intervention
